i have a 2008 trek 4300 brand new and i opened the shocks all the way and they only go up half the way when they a supposed 3/4 of the and just wondering how to get them to work properly
Take it to the shop and have them grease the sliders and springs. They should do this for free if it's a new bike. You can do it yourself also....coil spring forks are pretty simple. A quick fix would be to put several drops of thick lube in the sliders, but grease is better. Use a wooden toothpick or be careful with a metal hook to open up the seals and let the lube in. Don't scratch the sliders or damage the seal....best to disassemble it and grease everything.
The fork on that bike should have 80mm of travel (just over 3"). With the preload opened up all the way, you should be able to measure 80mm (give or take a few) of the exposed tubes. If it's far off the mark, the grease may help or it could have been assembled wrong at the factory....or sometimes the shop that put the bike together, if they happened to mess with it for some reason. |
