How do i assemble a seat onto a bike?? |
it is just a regular bicycle seat i was switching them and i dont know how to put it on. There is no such thing as "just a regular" anything on bikes these days. If you don't have a "square peg to go into a square hole", you should probly just take it to your local bike shop. If they are nice, they won't charge more than a latte to put your saddle on. alright... if its the standard kind with the one bolt underneath the seatpost clamp: unscrew the fastening bolt almost all the way, until you can turn the top clamp 90 degrees, place the seat rails into the bottom clamp, and turn the top clamp over the seat rails (this is easier than disassembling the whole clamp and putting it back together). Then simply tighten the screw on the bottom. There are two adjustments to make, one is tilt, and other is sliding the seat back and forth. This is personal - start with the seat paralell to the ground, in the middle of the rails, and adjust from there. Lastly, if its the other style post, there are two bolts to unscrew on the side - works much the same way in terms of adjustments good luck EDIT*** By "regular" seatpost, I mean in fact that - the standard kind. It is called a micro-adjust seatpost and consists of the post, with the clamp at top. It has a two piece clamp (bottom and top), with the bottom part attached to the post, and top part held on with a screw requiring a 6mm allen key. work in a bike shop There is a trick to it! Don't undo the allen screw the whole way, just as far as it'll go without the top bracket falling off. Turn the top bracket 90 degrees, place the seat on top of the notches on the bottom bracket part. Turn the top bracket back to where it is supposed to be, make sure the seat is level and centered, then tighten it up. Good luck with it. |
