How do i take off the fork on a haro backtrail x3 2008? Hey... Alright... to remove the fork (i'm assuming you're replacing it), you actually need a special tool to remove the race from the fork. the race is one of the pieces of the headset. You will also need a tool to press it onto the new fork. The tool for pulling it off is (By Park Tools) CRP-1, and the press is CRS-1. Bike tools are expensive, so it may be worth it to bring it to a shop. Installation won't be more than $20-25. You might save some $$ by just bringing in the forks and asking them to switch the races. To remove the fork, loosen the clamp bolts on the side of the stem, then unscrew the bolt in the cap all the way, slide off the stem. If it doesn't come out easily, just tap it out with a mallet. Good luck Source(s): work in a bike shop run into a wall |
