Ok well im a beginner skateboarder in need of advice...?

1. i can ride and stop
2. im a girl so im scared of injuries
3. im not READY for tricks yet (maybe yet)
4. i don't know what kind of equipment to buy
5. i've checked blankdecks.com and i might buy one one those
6. helmets? gloves?
7. im scared of people staring at me plus friends are all away

I thought this was the Cycling category, not Skateboarding
How about dont do it if you cant handle it....
You can ride and stop. That is a start. Being a girl has nothing to do with being scared. The females I have skated with in the past have a higher threshold for pain than alot of the guys. You are scared and that is fine, it is all part of the sport, when you quit haveing any fear at all you can get pretty messed up. Tricks, learn to ride off of a small step or drop off. all you have to do is lift your front truck at the right time and you landed your first trick. As for equipment I would suggest a deck with a thin width somewhere around 7 3/8" and between 28" to 30" in length. Get any old blank wheel that is fairly hard and about medium size. That is where you need to do your research. Trucks I recommend Tensor and tighten them down pretty good at first untill your get a comfort level and then let them loosen to your liking. Helmet: Protec it is what we use for Search and Rescue in the NAVY. Gloves aren't really necessary. Knee pads are a must especially if you are going to skate ramps. It is easier to slide out of a fall than anything else once you train yourself to use your knee pads and it will save you some abuse to your body in the long run. People are always going to stare at you skating just get used to it. It is a kind of odd fasination with skateboarding being a fringe element and wanting to see you do something cool.
So I hope this helped you out, get some gear and get out there shredding. Skate everything you can when ever you can and develope your own style. There are not alot of females who stick with it so there is some motivation. Good Luck!
BRN2SK8 DOING IT FOR 18 YEARS.
Well then I suggest that you wear knee pads and a helmet. I have seen skate boarders ride and stop. Don't get in the tricks or fancy stunts yet you need to get familiar with skate boarding my dear. I would wear a helmet If that was me I would use my bike helmet. You need to stop worrying what other people think.
Another piece of advice don't skate board in the bus mall
Just take these precautions you will be okay
Take it slow and in time you will be doing those stunts
Take care. If you can find information on this get it and read up on it.
