Unclear answer given, perhaps my question was no clear ( sorry ! )...? |
Anybody know the approx. weight of a SPECIALIZED FSR STUMPJUMPER 2008 WITH PEDALS STRAIGHT OUT OF THE FACTORY ? ( MEDIUM SIZED FRAME WITH 26x2.10 WHEELS AS SPECIFIED IN COMPANY'S MANUAL ) Expect it to be close to 29lbs. The only way to know the exact weight is to weigh it your self. The factories usually don't list the weight for legal reasons, look at the spec. sheet and you will find a clause "spec's subject to change". All the manufacturer has to do is change a few component spec's and the weight of the bike can change close to a lb.(not long ago one make put their bike on a hard diet for a bike test, but the production version showed up at the dealers 1.5 lbs heavier, another made a late season frame change and lost 1.25lbs) I suppose your question begs another question. Why is the weight so important to you? Most bikes, especially the one you are talking about are not too sensitive for weight, but instead for performance, so overall weight really isn't an issue. So, if you are just asking because you want a light bike, you can do better. If you are asking from a performance standpoint, your major concern should be wheel weight, not bike weight... a 28 gram (1 ounce) savings in each wheel- easily accomplished with lighter tires and tubes- will have the same performance difference as saving 448 grams (1 POUND) off of anything else.. and believe me, the cost of saving a pound off the frame is way high. 27 years in the industry I think this bike is around 30 pounds or so it is a good MTB It cant be only 30 lbs when a chromoly bmx is arounf 25-27ish and its almost half the size i would elaborate but Mirageguitar pretty much said it, unless you have a fukn 40lb bike i wouldnt worry about weight much, it is indeed about performance and how the bike feels when u ride it and how in shape you are. Check out here: http://www.thebicycleescape.com/mountain... States basically 29lbs on that site, but I don't see the year (i'd think 07 or 08). My guess is that's about right based on the weights of the other specialized (my rockhopper is about 28lbs) If a "medium" size frame is smaller than 19", you might drop a small amount of weight off that. |
