Problem with front tire in bike? |
My tire keeps getting flat. I have replaced the tube 3 times in the past couple months and have filled at about 55 PSI when the recommended is 40-60. Am I filling it up to high or does the actual tire need to be replaced? I have had no flats with the rear tire. Your flats are coming from: 1. A sharp edge/object in you rim. Make sure you have rim tape installed and covering the spoke holes completely. Feel the entire rim surface (with tire off of course) Be sure to check all inside surfaces where a tube would touch being careful not yo cut yourself. 2. Something sharp still stuck in your tire. Many times you get a flat cause something punctured your tire. If so and you never pulled in out of the tire it could still be there. If you keep having the same problem, I would just start over and replace the whole thing. This has happened on the rear tire of my bike, and that's what I did. Problem solved! There is something in your front tire that is puncturing the tube. Anytime you get a flat, and are replacing the tube - you should carefully check the inside of the tire for the piece of glass, metal, etc., that caused the puncture, otherwise it will just keep puncturing the new tubes as well. Also make sure you aren't pinching the tube in between the tire and the rim when you install it. If your tire is excessively worn, it will make it much easier for something to puncture your tube - consider replacing it if there is no tread left. Be sure to check the rim and the tire to make sure no sharp objects are poking the tube. Once 8 years ago I did find in my bicycle tire miniature wire from steelbelted automotive tire by accident how small was it . On the tough inside the tire when I replace the inner tube I did find nothing , I did replace 2 inner tubes before I did find out . You have to look for any sharp object in the tire really carefully .... |
