What should the tire pressure be on the tires for my bike?

I just purchased a bike and I don't know to much about them. Are they pretty much like cars, where the tire pressure should read a certain amount? If it helps the bike is a15 speed with 26 inch tires, no shocks. I weigh about 225 pound. Thank you.

Just go to any bike shop and they will tell you. It depends on the bike, and the specifics of the tires-more info then what you provided here. And be careful. I once put air in my tire and it exploded as soon as I got on the bike.
how lame, all you got to do is READ .

the tire pressure is imprinted on one side of the tire,///
Look on the side of the tire man. If it doesn't list the max air pressure, buy some cheap new tires.
