Are Shimano XT hyraulic disk brankes any good?

Just ordered a front shimano XT disk with 180mm rotor. Has anyone used one and if so what did you think?

I have an old Kona stuff (2002) which means it came with V brakes and Marazocchi MXR forks. It has the same frame as the current Kona jump bikes (Kona Clump). I'm also looking to upgrade the forks in the near future. Any recommendations?

I've been using them for two years and love them. Don't remember what rotor size I have.

Replaced the pads once so far.

I ride year round in mud, ice, and snow and these brakes have given me reliable stopping in all conditions.
Anything made by Shimano is going to be good. There are some that are better, but not many. Avid makes some really good brakes as well, but they are quite a bit more than the XT if i remember correctly.
They're fine. I have a 200mm front rotor and 160mm rear. They work pretty fine, not blingy but they work.

They have good modulation and power.
XT are pretty high up the ranks, so (whilst I've not used them) I would imagine they're pretty sweet! You'll certainly notice a marked improvement over V brakes. a 180mm rotor is nice and juicy for the front. I run Avid Juicy Sevens 180 on front 160 on rear, and they stop like nothing I ever had before!

As for the fork, since I migrated from Rockshox to Marzocchi I don't think I'll be going back. 拢 for 拢, the Marzocchis have proven to be much better in terms of stiffness, plushness, and all round greatness. Have a look at their ranges, depending what you wanna spend, and what type of riding you wanna do.

With the fork, look into 2006 models which are going cheap. Sure they're ayear back on technology, but then so will 2007 forks be in a couple of months. And you just might find a bargain thats worth it.
Got them on my Epic. Think they are 160mm rotors front and back. Had them a year now with no issues.
shimano makes high end stuff, and the xt is the higher end of that, so yeah man.
