What kind of bike rack is good for a 1999 acura integra? |
would like one that can support two bikes... Yakima and Thule (Pronounced Tooly) are going to have quite a bit of stuff for you. A word on roof racks. Yakima and Thule sell their stuff as moduels. You buy a basic set up and then accessorize. Yakima sells a couple of different systems to actually retain the bicycle in the rack. One way is to remove the front wheel and clamp it into a mount on the rack. The other is a long, "arm", with a tube clamp. This last is a much better way to go. Not only is it easier to operate, it is much better for the bike. Rack systems that mount your bike by removing the front wheel, and clamping the forks in something, are arguabley hard on your bike. With the force of wind blowing on your bike, and having it all clamped in like that; this will stress the frame in a way I do not like. Much better to go with the system that attaches to some part of the frame. There is just too much force in all the wrong spots with the method involving clamping your forks to something. Roof rack or trunk rack? You can go to Yakima's site and it asks for your make and model car and tells you exactly what fits. I'm sure other manufacturers do the same. REI, Thule and rackwarehouse are 3 that come to mind. |
