How do i fix my chain on my bike? |
ok my bike chain has stretched as far as it can!! like the tire cannot move back anymore cause its to far out..i need to get rid of some links..but how do i get rid of the links? what tools do i need? You would need a link removal tool (chain tool) Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/chain_tool... Their is a tool called a link remover...they even sell them at WalMart...Put the chain on a hard surface that has an opening (vise) tap out the links with the tool mentioned above or with an ice pick and hammer. Oh I forgot you have to slide off the link lock first...looks like a elongated c that goes over the two pins on the link. tap out the pin...repeat. If its more costly to purchase a chain removal, and you cant afford it, than just see if any of your friends have some sort of welding tool, then get two peices, from a medal shop that'll fit perfectly to the ends of your tire medal holder, and just simply weld those peices on as add-ons, do you understand what I mean? I'm sure you do, Good Luck, hun!! Smile!! Wow, The answer before mine is awesome! And to think I already bought a chain breaker! Stupid me! THERES A TOOL FOR THAT ITS LIKE A PIECE OF METAL THAT FIT THE CHAIN AND YOU TURN LIKE A SMALL ROD AND IT PUSHES OUT THE PINS THEN WHEN YOU HAVE THE CHAIN MEASURED TO WHAT YOU THEN JUST TURN THE TOOL UPSIDEDOWN AND PUSH THE PINS BACK THROUGH |
