Unfortunately, this is a question no one can tell you exactly which gear to be in. This is one of those, it all depends, type questions. You need to consider how steep and long the hill is and how used to changing gears you are. The goal is to ride up the hill as smoothly as possible and to maintain a fairly high number of revolutions per minute while pedaling. Before tackling the hill, practice shifting, both the front and rear gears. Also become familiar with what the gears "feel like." Then it is a matter of going up. If the hill is not super steep and long, you will probably find one of those 21 gears just about right. At some point you will be able to start up the hill in a higher gear and shift down, as necessary, on the way up. As you get stronger you will go up the hill in higher gears.

If you get stuck on the hill and the gear is too high, stop and go back down the hill and tackle it in a lower gear.

Good luck and congratulations on biking to work.
Depends on grade.Start in low/low abd work your way up till its confortable.
Whichever you prefer for peat sakes. You got the bike. You got the hill. Ride it.
