Toning up while cycling? |
I bought a 18 speed bike yesterday & I rode for 30 minutes last night. I am not sore at all. Perhaps I didn't go fast enough? I am a female, 5'7" and 185 pounds. I would like to tone up my legs (I would like to have thick thighs & a thick backside and take a little weight off my stomach) Can you tell me if cycling daily will help this? I don't know if it works those muscles, what muscle does cycling work? Also how long should I ride every day and how fast should I go. Basically just help me get the most out of my workout so that I can thicken & tighten those areas. Thanks in advance. To start, being sore the morning after working out all depends on what shape you were in to start with. There's a good chance you might start feeling it tomorrow, the second day is always the worse when you begin a workout routine. At least for me. Cycling is definatly a cardio workout that also targets your upper thighs. You might be able to change the gears so that it's more difficult, but your best be to gain muscle tone is light weights or even yoga. Power yoga is great for tonning up. As for slimming the waste, first and formost you have to reduce calorie intake and increase activity. The cycling is a great way to increase activity so sounds like your on the right track. you have to ride like up hills n stuff and do it more oftern i do that then my legs start to like hurt a little Cycling is a great workout but I would think that you would have to do a great deal more than 30 minutes to do any good. First you should consider the terrain. Is it hilly or flat?Obviously flat terrain won麓t do much for you. Secondly , what type of bike did you get, is it a roadster or a mountain bike?Roadsters have very thin tires to cut down on the friction with the road surface whilst mountain bikes have thick, knobbly tires which have more friction and provide a better workout..I personally feel that the best bike type workout is with a recumbent exercise bike because you can control the resistance which is so necessary. In addition I know that exercise bikes are very good for toning up legs, much more so than jogging and they are more effective than road bikes because you are not subject to external factors and your workout will take less time.Ride a street bike for pleasure. I got on one again after 50 years and it was a great sensation. |
