HELP! First triathlon coming up and don't know what to expect!?

Any advice would be helpful. I need to know what to wear and what to expect. I have wanted to do a triathlon and decided to go for it, I have no idea what to expect!

If you have time go watch a Tri before yours. You can see how people lay out their T1 and T2 gear. I would deff buy some anti-friction lube. I don't know how well Vasoline will work but the stuff you can pick up online or in bike/Tri stores seems to work great for me. From the books I've read so far seems orgnization is something that will help make your day better. As for equipment that is always a personal choice but don't try anything new the day of the event just because they gave it to you. Check and make sure they are providing drink and snacks or if you have to provide your own. Also if they let you use the two bags make sure you don't put anything that will not be good warm and that you don't expect to get back. Source(s): Training for one myself
stop it, drink beer and eat doughnuts. you will feel better
I've never done one, but you go girl! You rock!
Well expect PAIN and slather on the Vaseline anywhere and everywhere you think body-parts will rub. You might want to bring a small jar of it with you or at least have someone planted at miles 9, 13, 17, 21 (potential suggestions) with it so you can apply it when needed.

Most importantly build up to the big day by working out with fellow tri-athloners in all three events: cycling, running, swimming (?).

Good Luck! You will feel great when you have accomplished this major challenge!
Don't listen to Joel C! Everyone else is right though. I have a bunch of helpfull hints from when I did a triatholon but forgot the names of key elements so I will get back to you on them. But for know, keep training and using caged pedals instead of clip-ins might be beter so you don't have to change from biking shoes to running shoes.
it doesn't sound like you have been training much, so I doubt you will enjoy it....
you need to train with a local club or at least someone who has done a few to give you an idea of what to expect
also, check out the local bike shops or triathlete shops to inquire about the clothing, there is too much info to try to give it to you here, and I don't like cutting and pasting stuff from websites (like so many like to do here)
make sure your wetsuit is fitted correctly, and your bike is set up before you do anything else
good luck!
