What is the process for testing drugs in the Tour de France? |
I've been watching the TdF for a couple years and love the sport. I'm trying to get a better understanding who gets tested for drugs/doping and who doesn't and how they decide? I'm looking for the actual stated rules and then also what truly happens. I thought if a rider won a stage he was for sure going to be tested, let alone if he wins the TDF but reading the quote from Contador below makes me believe otherwise. Check it out and let me know... ""After clinching his Tour title at Saturday's time trial, Contador said he would take a DNA test, but only if asked. "I'm innocent and I don't have to prove anything to anyone," Contador said. "Who should I have give my blood to? You?" Contador never tested positive and there is no evidence tying him to blood-doping. Yet the fact he had to face questions reflects the current climate of suspicion."" Makes it sound like he hasn't even been tested! Why wouldn't they test him? Why aren't they testing at least 50% of the peloton 24/7? In the Tour de France, they test the stage winner, the overall leader, and do three random tests after each stage. During training season, however, they ask where you'll be and come tou your house and take regular tests from you. That's why Michael Rasmussen was kicked out. He wouldn't tell his team where he was, so they could have him tested. Also, in the Tour, if you miss three tests in eighteen months when the doping patrol comes, that counts as the same as a positive test. I agree though. At LEAST 50% of the peloton sould be tested all the time, if not the whole peloton. I wonder if that might happen to crack down on doping: Testing every rider on every stage. Source(s): I proudly believe Floyd Landis and Alexandre Vinokourov, so I've studied much on the subject. who knows , but in any sport you should beaware on the drugs you are takeing, just stop trying to win by cheating. and counting on drugs to help you out do you agree? I believe his team fired him for lying, not positive drug tests. He didn't test positive because he never showed up for his tests ,and he lied as to his whereabouts in June of this year. Said he was in Mexico but was seen in Italy prior to the tour. I guess with him it was more a lack of trust than doping. ahh the person above me is not talking about contador. After the stage always the winner has to go to do pis. By lotery the organisation takes a few other numbers that also has to go and do pis. So they see what kind of products are eventually in their body. And when they test positive, they go on and control the blood....... |
