What are good mtn. bikes and is full suspension the way to go? I'm looking into KONA right now...help.? |
I'm out on single track a lot, and would love a bike that gets me uphill just as well as it gets me downhill. I have an entry level mtn. bike that I definitely need to turn in, which is front suspension only, and I'm ready to have clip-ins. There are so many options out there, that I would like some kind of advice on what's good, bad, and necessary. Kona is a very good brand. Also check the usual suspects (Specialized, Cannondale, Trek, Giant). Full suspension bikes right now are very good, and are very likely better than Hardtails for anything other than XC races. Look into the Kona Dawg, Specialized Stumpjumper FSR, Cannondale Prophet, Giant Trance or Reign. http://www.konaworld.com/bikes/2k7/kikap... http://www.konaworld.com/bikes/2k7/theki... http://www.konaworld.com/bikes/2k7/kingk... I have a kona dawg and I love it! Good for climbing and just enough suspension for the gnarly downhills. But since I've moved to NYC I don't really need it anymore. Email me if you're interested in purchasing it (it's in great shape). If not, check out a few different brands. Most of my old riding buddies ride either Kona, Giant, Specialized or Trek. They all make good cross-country bikes. GOOD LUCK!! |
