Why isn't my bb7 disc brake working? |
i just bought a rear avid bb7 and it's not working, i know for a fact that the disc and caliper are set up corresctly and the cable's brand new but they still don't work, like it doesn't pull tight enough, i think it's my lever but i thought i'd ask just incase, also the lever doesnt spring back when cable's in it but does when there's not. how can i fix it? Alright, If you just bought it, its gonna suck for about a few weeks, or 20 or so really hard stops. The rotors and pads need to be worked in. Hey, if you really want the stopping power the bb7's have to offer, upgrade your levers to something like xt, where you can move the pivot point to a higher power setting. Careful though, they will have no modulation... Great for downhill and trials. If you're sure (absolutely sure) that its not the adjustment, then they just need to work in.. EDIT** Keep in mind becasue they use a cable, the cable will also stretch, affecting your stopping power. Just tighen it up with the adjuster when it happens Source(s): work in a bike shop Are you sure the cable housing was cut cleanly? If not it could cause the cable to hang up preventing the lever springback. Are you using the right lever? Road with road caliper or V-brake with MTB caliper? |
