How do I adjust my bicycle seat? |
My bike seat is loose and is tilted funny. What do I need to do to fix it? I read several places to use an Allen wrench, but I don't see a spot where the Allen wrench would go... Any suggestions? Your seat clamp is not the type with an allen bolt. The 2 nuts on each side tighten and loosen the seat. You need to use 2 wrenches one for each side. Loosen just enough to re-position the seat to the way you want. Then tighten the nuts, using the 2 wrenches to hold both at the same time. You need to make them fairly tight so the seat won't loosen again. Underneath the seat, there should be one bolt that is for a 6mm allan key. If you loosen, but not completely, this bolt, you can slide the seat forward and back and tilt up and down. If it is the older/cheaper style, there are two bolts to loosen on each side where the seatpost clamps the seat rails. Most likely its the first kind though. to start, place it in the middle for forward/back, and about paralell to the ground. You can move it from there for personal preference. its all personal with the seat. You'll probably need to move it and try it a few times before finding the right spot for you... EDIT*** these kind work much the same way as the other kind, but instead of one bold, there are two on the sides. simply loosen, and you can make the same adjustments as said above for the other style of post. I don't remember the size of wrench, probably either 12, 13, or 14mm. Again, may take a few tries to get it right for you. good luck work in a bike shop Stop by a bike store and they'll do it for you for free. |
