Do you think the Tour de France should be cancelled until they can get doping under control? |
I used to eagerly watch the Tour de France but no longer with all the doping. The sport is absolutely chock full of cheaters and liars and you never know who it will be next. Incredibly, this year has been as bad or worse than last year. Cycling's reputation has completely gone down the toilet with all the scandals. Do you think the Tour should be cancelled until this is under control? What's the point of holding an event if you know for sure that the top riders are doping? After all, they can't cheat if they can't ride. No, they should just have two different events: one for humans that feel pain, and one for dopers that can pedal up mountains like a Sunday ride. Until then all they can do is catch the dopers at some point or another... Either way, it's fun to watch isn't it? Keep in mind: 1) doping in the TdF isn't new, I've read they used to do hard drugs like cocaine in the old days.. hey there were on fixed gears, so it kinda makes sense. 2) just about every professional sport is having the same issues, probably even poker. =] No it shouldn't be cancelled. They are working on cleaning it up, that's why all the turmoil this year. Every rider was tested at least once during the race and can be tested anytime, anywhere, even in the off season. Once riders realize the race organizers aren't messing around, they might not take a chance on doping or using other drugs. Yes, cycling has its problems, but so does every other sport. In MLB & the NFL, it's the players' union that is holding things from getting cleaned up. The union will NEVER allow random testing anytime, anywhere. What do you think the results would be if EVERY NFL player was tested before each game? Or if every MLB player was tested before the world series? Cycling is taking the initiative in cleaning up their sport. It's the other sports that should follow their example. i do agree that it has big doping problems, but cancelling it is not necessary. Before cancelling it completely they should make drug test mandatory for EVERYONE participating, instead of random. C'mon, that's like saying we should stop driving cars because so many thieves steal them. Cheaters liars and crooks will always be with us. I applaud the Tour and the UCI and even WADA for doing their best to clean up the sport. I think every other major sport has their head in the sand on this, and eventually their scandals will come. no how can they sort it out if it is not happening?? cycling hasnt been worse this year, there was what, 4 or 5 positive tests at the tour this year,,, compare this to last year's puerto scandal drugs are a problem in every sport cycling just the UCI choose to publicly deal with the dopers instead of sweeping it under the carpet like the golfers are doing and for your your "they cant cheat if they cant ride", if they cant ride there IS no sport |
