Areas near NYC for 4-6 night tour?


I've got a week to myself before starting a new job (woo hoo!), and I am planning a 4-6 night fully loaded tour. I would like to head through Jersey into PA or Ohio. Anyone have any suggestions on a route or places I should stay along the route?

I tend to think that the best areas immediately around NYc are to the north. The Hudson Valley and Catskill region of the state are just beautiful and have a lot of roads that are bike friendly.
