Repainting my Bike? |
Hi, I want to repaint my bike, but I'm not sure what brands of paint are most effective. Can you please answer... 1) What brands of paint can I use to paint my bike that will not chip or weather away, will not damage the bike in anyway, and will also look good once the final paint job is applied? 2) Where to buy a good brand of paint and the recommended amount. 3) Should I use paint or spray paint? Pros and Cons of each? Thanks! Alright to answer your first question,get a spray paint that is weather proof and ment for outdoor use,I would suggest going to your local paint store and asking questions they will tell you the brand that best fits your item. You will need paint stripper and primer also. And for your secound question,like I said go to your local paint store or you can head over to any hardware store and specify your bike material as in Crmo,aluminum so forth. They will give you exactly what you need. And for your third question, use spray paint. Paint by hand and you would not get a very good finish,you would regret it. Pros of spray paint=simple,fast,and cleaner look. Cons of spray paint=If you stand to close you will get drips. Pros of reg paint=NONE Cons of reg paint=Causes sometimes uneven strokes,turns dull. Sup. you can get Rusto-Luem brands preferrably (if you want somethin slick ) use the METALLIC type .. rusto doesnt chip , weather, AND wont get ate up by corrosion.. youcould use KRYLON too but for the application go with Rusto.. Prime, sand, paint away..light coats..then bang it out with a tight clear coat WAL-mart brand clear is great!!.. you can pick up this product at walmart, home depot, lowes.. IF YOU HAND PAINT it ..its goin to be a while and the paint may not have a uniform coat. .might be a lil cheaper than spraycans..i guarantee you will love the finished look with the aerosol.. official aerosol technician. |
