Are Kawasaki and Suzuki cruisers reliable? |
Are they, for the most part, good bikes? Generally speaking, the question isn't how competent the machine is, but how negligent the owner is. Motorcycles (and cars) don't go south due to malfeasance at the manufacturing end, but how the machine is treated by its owner. My brother turns a car into a heap of trash in 2 years. On the other hand, my NEWEST car is a '66 Chevy (our daily driver). Kawasaki and Suzuki have been in the business for half a century and wouldn't be around today if they made junk. Yes, for the most part, they make competent reliable bikes. I don't like them very much, but I can't say anything true about them that would be bad. .The answer by Pilgrim is spot on. I can't really think of anything bad to say about the Japanese manufacturers, in fact, if the style fits your interests, they make some pretty nice bikes. My coworker has a Kawasaki Vulcan, and the only time he's really complained was when the side-stand came off of its own accord, causing his bike to fall over (thereby scraping and ... you get the idea). Fixed by putting on a more heavy duty bolt, and using loctite on the darn thing. I own a Suzuki C50T and belong to a large (5600+) Suzuki riders users group. They are outstanding bikes and if properly taken care of will last a long time and provide thousands and thousands of miles of good service. Same thing for Kawasakis, Hondas and Yamahas. Like the other guy said, they wouldn't have been around for over 50 years if they were making/selling junk. |
