Any good ideas for a first set of wheels?

21 years old, just about to do my direct access. Asked in a previous question if a Harley would be suitable, most of you said no. So what would be a good bike for me, in your opinion? I am more in to cruisers than sports bikes.

Why in singles and dating, you ask? For some reason this category gets the most attention....

go with the one you can afford. Remember this. To drive in love can be pleasant but the drivers seat can sometimes result in disaster when you don't know enough. Good luck and much wisdom.
LOL !
@ "this category gets most attention"

I suggest, you go ask this on a biker forum.
There are quite a lot and good once there.
I am a biker snce I am 16 years old (now I am 33).
I can give you a quick review, but anyway you want to join a good quality biker forum, cuz you will have tons of more quesitons.

A Harley for a beginner is not recommende.
If you are a beginner, get a used bike, try get a good deal.
unless you are rich and dont care about money.
You will probably drop that bike, so think ahead of costs to get it fixed. Japanese bikes are best deal on good quality with lower price that European or USA bikes.

Yamaha and Honda for example. Parts no problem, every garage can fix them. Look at their webpages, they got any category you might think of.
I had a Honda Shadow 600. Was a cruiser, I was very happy with that bike. Had it for 6 years, and not one problem (I bought it new). For a Cruiser, dont worry about tires. Tires are just interesting issue if you like carving corners. For me, all the fun is actually in cornering, for which a Cruiser is a bad choice.
Try to look at naked bikes. Like the Yahama Fazer 600 or the Honda Hornet 600. Great bikes for beginners, good power, good handling. A Cruiser is really just to cruise along straight highways, and this at moderate speeds. Cruiser are not fast, they have huge air drag, and are worst in handling, but sure they are very comfortable, which is their big plus. You are young tough, I good imagine, you would have more fun with a more nimble bike.
Once you start cornering, its like a drug, and you want to go faster and faster thrue that corner, until you drag you knee.....but yes, not everybody is like this :)

Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki all are making Cruisers, pretty different in looks, but very similar in quality, power and weight (if same category)

Ah yes, and, also it matter, if you are a tall guy or a short guy. Because in cars you can simply adjust the seat to the lengh of your feet and hands, but in bikes you cant without tricks. So there are higher bikes and lower one.
Cruiser are good for short legs, because they are low.
So its relaly important, that you sit on the bike, and see if it fits your "body" - at least your toes toucht the ground as long you are inexperienced driver. Gettin gmore advanced, you can do with just get one tow down, sliding your *** to one side, but not recommenden for beginners.
ALso if you are a very tall guy, you will be unhappy with a low bike, since your feet and or back will hurt with to much bended knees.

Get also some good gear, this might safe your life.
Drive safe man, and browse some good forums, all of them have plenty of tips for beginners.
