How does one start to get into dirt biking? |
I'm 14 and i recently rode dirt bikes with my cousin in BC and i loved it, i would really like to get into it. First just as recreational then eventually some competition. I know this is a very general question and i would just like to know if there is any place to start, like taking classes or reading stuff or getting a dirt bike...by the way im a motorcycle junkie to begin with and i know all about cruisers, not so much dirt bikes though. So if anyone could point me in the right direction i would be very thankful. Oh and im 5"7 and 115 pounds if that helps The best way to learn is by experience. If you can get one, do it. With your size and age, I think a 125cc would be perfect. It doesnt have to be in perfect shape it is just for starting out, so get something that is affodable. Start little by little. Find trails to learn on, then move gradually to a track. Just make sure you get some proper gear. I started this way and am still riding 15 years later. Good Luck. Get a dirt bike and start riden. Start out slow and easy then move from small jumps to the big ones. Just don't show off it will get you hurt. buy a bike ride the biike you are now a dirt bike rider Buy a used Honda or Yamaha. If you can afford a newer bike, get a 4 stroke. If not, an older YZ or CR 250 is a good bike. If you start with a 125, you will out grow it within one season of riding. I have been riding dirt bikes for 29+ years. I started when I was 5 First you have to get a bike YES, YES? |
