Im a big guy looking to get a motorcycle? |
Im between 6'3" - 6'4" and I weigh around 330lbs. Ive been wanting to get a motorcycle for some time now, but all the ones ive tried have been small. A '04 Buell Xb9r, '07 Kawi Zx6r, '06 Cbr600r, '07 Harley (wasnt a sportster or vrod, i dont know the exact model), and a few others that I cannot recall. On the Buell, I felt too top heavy and it hurt my nads to sit on it. On the Zx6r my knees touched my elbows, but it was quite comfortable. The Cbr hurts my balls. The Harley was the most comfortable, but I disliked how low the bars were and to be honest, they're way out of my price range. Cruiser or streetbike, doesnt matter. The larger the bike is physically, the more comfortable it seemed for me. Any bikes I should look out for? I really like the looks of late-90's sportbikes and post 1990 cruisers. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. I'm 6'-3" and I found that forward controls were the solution to my problem. I really liked the Harley but my legs were cramped with the standard mid controls. When I tried sitting on the same bike with forward controls, my mind was made up. The riding position went from cramped to comfortable. You may want to keep this in mind if you get a cruiser. I don't think the sportbike's riding position and your size will give you a comfortable ride for any length of time, but that's just my opinion. Check out the KTM Super Duke...It is a pretty big bike...very strong and extremely fun to ride. www.ktm.com www.ktm.com A big Kawi 800 or 1500 is low, reliable and half the price of a Harley. Most sportbikes are too tall for my liking, bit I'm not a big fan of 'cruisers'. I really like the Triumph Scrambler - you dont' see too many of those. 2nd the Super Duke or the KTM 990 Adventures. You are a big dude, as am I. I would not get a sport bike if I were you. Any way you cut it you will look like a "pumpkin on a peanut" if you get my drift. They are also not very comfortable, either. I drive a 2003 HD Softail, and the size and power of the bike are quite impressive. I am 6'3" and am told I look fine on the bike. I sat on a sportster, and it felt pretty tiny in comparison. The newer Harleys also have a 99ci motor with 6 speed tranny, for even more power and gas mileage. The new balanced motors on these bikes are literally awesome. If you don't feel like the expense of a Softail, you can go with any of the new large cruisers made by Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, ect. Some of these bikes are even bigger than the Harley and believe me you will find them quite nice. Well I hope I helped you out, cya Stay away from conventional sportbikes. They're not ergonomically correct for big riders. Cruisers are to low to the ground. I'm a tall guy and am comfortable on enduros (street - dirt) because of the high seat heights. Kawasaki KLR250 & 650 Next choice would be a "standard" or naked street bike. Honda Nighthawk series & Kawasaki ZRX series. http://www.hondanighthawks.net/250.htm... http://www.hondanighthawks.net/750.htm... http://www.motorbikes.be/en/kawasaki_zrx... http://www.motorbikes.be/en/kawasaki_zrx... Look for the KLRs on that site. |
