Mileage during breakin? |
Just purchased c50 Suzuki cruiser. Only on the second tankfull but the mileage stinks. The bike runs great and mpg is estimated at around 50. Im at about half that. Im breaking in exactly how book says. Does this lower mileage improve as the bike is broke in and all the new parts find their groove? mileage will steadily improve after the first 3000 miles. i bought my bike at 15 miles, and i didnt start improving mileage until after 2500-3000 miles. If the rings aren't seated fully the gas mileage should skyrocket, wait until your done with the break in and have done the oil change etc before starting to check mileage. brand new bike eh? mileage starts to improve at around the 3000 mile mark. until then, it will appear to be a gas hog. i do find that premium works the best in my bike. i got my bike with under 10 miles. it took close to 3000 for it to start getting longer and longer legs make sure you open and close tyhe throttle smoothly they never tell you that in the manual but it is the most important part of break in I WORK IN SUZUKI SHOP.THE CARBS COME WITH A STABLIZER IN THEM WHEN THEY ARE NEW IF IT WASNT DRAINED OUT DURING SETUP IT WILL TAKE LONGER TO ACHIEVE GOOD MPG.YOU SHOULD EITHER DRAIN THE FUEL SYSTEM YOURSELF OR TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER.YOUR MILAGE WILL IMPROVE AS THE BIKE IS BROKE IN BUT YOUR MPG SHOULD BE HIGHER THAN 25. u'll eventually get good gas mileage. from experience, premium gives me the best mileage vs the cheap stuff. |
