What's the next best step up from a 200cc?

I've been practicing riding on our little Brute 200 and I'd like to start looking for a new cruiser with a little more balls. What's a good bike to get that is good on maintaince (sp?)...and my bank account?

Suzuki S40. Its a great little bulletproof bike. Its easy to work on and its been around forever. Its always a good sign when a bike remains in production this long. Its a 650cc engine. It rides great and its light weight, around 350lb. Its a thumper, which means its only got one cylinder. A lot of love out there for thumper bikes. They got an old school flair and a svelt look.

Honda Shadow VLX 600. Its a bit bigger, about 500lb, but its also a 600c v-twin. The v-twin means it has two cylinders. This is another fantastic bike to ride on and its a bit beefier looking which may appeal to you. Its also a bit more expensive. My understanding is that it is a little bit slower than the S40.

Yamaha V-Star Custom 650. This is a beautiful bike. This bike dose just about everything right. If you want something with some balls that is a good bike for a semi-new rider then don't forget to check this out. Its easy on maintaince because of the drive shaft but its also more expensive than the other two. Source(s): I own a Honda Shadow VLX and I am a big fan of the V-Star Custom and the S40.
