Why do noobs insist on them? |
crotch rockets? why is it that 8 out of 10 on here insist on trying to steer a complete rookie into gettin a high powered sportbike? are cruiser's too 'boring' in the twisty's? can any1 honestly say they would be able to handle a bike capable of going from 0-100+ in the quarter mile as their first bike? 8 out of 10 don't ride. The other 20% have various opinions. 2 months ago it was different. The answerers were more informed. Why do kids want them in the first place? Because no kid wants a station wagon for a first car. It's got to be "fast" or "sporty". A truck has to be "lifted",and they all have to have cool "rims". I'd never recommend a crotch rocket for a first bike unless it was a smaller one like a Ninja 250. To get a 600cc or up for a first bike is just nuts. In defense of those buying big bore crotch rockets, from my observations you get an equal amount going out and buying 883 or 1200 Sportsters or Big Twins for first bikes too..... that is a form of population control. this allows the weak to be eliminated and the strong survive. Japan has a graduated form of license. You start at under 100cc and work your way up to higher cc's with time and money. here in US money can buy stupidity. see 16 yr old bimbittes on cell phones driving Mom's Hummer after 10pm. 45 yrs riding from CZ Jawa to BMW You don't have to be a rider or know dick about riding to answer on Yahoo. I ride. Ah, yeah I can honestly say I did handle a sportbike as my first bike and still have it and so far thankfully I have kept it upright. That being said it is a SV650S which is no where near as fast as a lot of other 600's (i.e. GSXR, CBR, R6, ZX6R) but its fast none the less. I think the whole thing is really just a matter of preference, Its just as easy to get yourself killed on a cruiser as it is a sportbike or any other bike for that matter. Of course most people that ride sportbikes that I know are somewhat adrenaline junkies, either that are they've seen that movie Biker Boys too many times and think that the Hyabusa is the only bike worth having. Its kind of the same as a lot of guys in there 40's going out and buying a $20K harley as thier first bike instead of an old beater to learn on. I do think we need a graduated license in the US for cars and bikes. Im tired of seeing people driving around in their bigass Ford Excursion's trying to talk on the phone and drive at the same time (or even worse have a freaking dog sitting in thier lap, that should be a drving offense worth going to jail for) its rather annoying when they come over into my lane. Of course this is all just my opinion, I could be wrong. |
