Need help with helmet, full face or open face helmet?

I just recently bought a 07 Vulcan 900 Classic that I really love, not to bad as a first bike. I need some opinion on if I should wear full face or open face helmet, some people told me that I should go with a full face helmet since I'm a new rider and it will provide me better protection. Other guys told me that I should just go with open face helmet since I have a cruiser. Any sugestion on wich type of helmet should I wear, right now I'm using a open face.

Personal preference and what you feel comfortable with.
Me PERSONALLY, I'd never have anything other than a full faced helmet. It helps in protecting my face not only the wind but also all the bugs, bees, flies that meet their fate on the glass face of my helmet (wouldn鈥檛 be nice turning up and looking rather dapper with dead bodies strewn all over my face, really uncool).
But again, it is back to what YOU want, not what anyone else says.
Personally speaking, I prefer the full-face protection. This came about after an incident while motoring along at about 55 MPH on a Harley which even had a windshield (usually the airflow will lift objects over the operator's head). Well, as luck would have it, a particularly large moth wasn't blown over, and instead it struck me on the bridge of my nose at 55 MPH, and needless to say it sure was a surprise and I almost lost the bike (and myself) in the process. Go with the full-face protection. Hope this helps.
Full face helmet will do the job,; by the way is more secure a full face helment than and open face helmet because the full face helmet has more protection feature in head and face rather than an open face helment that only provides protection in certain regions of the face and head!

As an old saying tells: "Is better to prevent that to lament"!

See ya, take care and best wishes on your daily motorcycle activities!
wear what you want
i wear a full face because it blocks more wind and feels more comfortable to me
also if you tilt your head back it doesn,t catch air under it as bad and try to pull your head back more
it does offer more protection around the chin area

i ride a cruiser most of the time too
I think you are talking about a 3/4 helmet when you say "open face". Most 3/4 helmets have a three-snap visor on them. You can replace the tiny OEM visor with a full-face flip up visor (they come tinted or clear for around $25). This gives you alot of versatility for different riding conditions.
The 3/4 helmet will never be as safe as the full-face helmet but it is definitely more comfortable when riding in hot weather.
you only have one head so protect it,go for the full face.
I have used both and I prefer a full face helmet(ARAI specifically) because of the face plant factor...
