What are good and bad qualities for a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD? |
Im looking for a nice cruiser with more power than the honda rebel, but with a low price. I have no motorcycle experience. Is this a good bike? This depends on how much you weigh. The Vulcan 500 is not a very powerful bike, but may be pretty good to learn on...nice, reliable bike, certainly nice looking. The drive belt needs to be checked regularly, but other than routine maintenance, nothing out of the ordinary need be done. I strongly ..STRONGLY .. suggest you take the NSF motorcycle course offered in most areas. Even experience drivers learn loads from this course. AND, after passing the exam, you will NOT have to pass the state driving test in most states. I highly recommend this course as a life saver! Cycling is not the safest way to get somewhere, it has lots of danger involved...perhaps that is why it is popular. Certainly gets the juices flowing. But take the course before you get into trouble. There is enough trouble on cycles without having to guess at what to do, without having to use bad advice from other riders who often have no idea what they are talking about. Ride safe, Ride sanely, and do NOT over ride your abilities. Good Luck I think they are pretty good bikes, the engine has been in production for years. Iv'e seen a few of these around my area with fairings and bags on them so they get lots of highway use. Go to http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/enthus... for motorcycle reviews on just about every bike on the road. i would disagree with goldwing, a vulcan 500 is a pretty powerful bike, its the same engine used in the ex500 sportsbike and is a good engine as long as it has been well maintained, with service history etc. the handling is fine if you are used to cruisers and it is capable of well over 110 mph. the honda hawk is a simpler engine and needs less maintenance but if i had a choice i'd rather have the vulcan. |
