What kind of daddy bicycle should I buy for my husband who is 6'5" (frame size etc.)?

He's already got a nice mountain bike but if we go downtown he doesn't want to leave it parked where pieces can get stolen. I want a midpriced large frame bike (I don't even know what sizes they come in) that is good for riding around with kids in bike seats... (I have a 1985 Schwinn Cruiser)

Most MTB frames these days are sold in small, medium, or large sizes with some comapnies selling variations on the three (i.e. xs, xl, etc) At 6'4" he'll definitely need a large or extra large. At his size, you'll also need to accomodate proper fit by seatpost height and stem length and rise.

stem - the thing the handle bar mounts to

length - the length of the stem in cm or mm

rise - amount of height change from one end of the stem to the other in degrees.

If you're looking at an older style bike which measures the frame size in inches, you'll need at least a 23.

If the bike does not have enough seatpost length, or stem rise/length, your local bike shop can order the correct size and put them on for you unless you want to try it yourself. I would advise against this unless you have previous experience is proper bike fit.

He'll spend more time riding a cheap bike that fits well than an expensive bike that is uncomfortable.
If he already has a mountain bike, you should look at a hybrid bicycle. A hybrid is essentially a corssover between a road and a mountain bikle. It will be a bit more relaxed than either and very sturdy. primarily, they are designed for cruising on local roads - very much like the kind of riding your describe.
