What would a ninja 250r be equal to in speed for a cruiser?

just in case the question didnt make sense...sport bike (ninja 250r) = cruiser(?cc)

What a funny question. I love it.

I have been preaching that the V-twin cruiser is all style and not much performance. I have also preached that the 250 ninja is a sheep in wolf's clothing. Here is how those two statements collide.

250 ninja 0-60 5.7 1/4 mile 14.6

883 Harley Sportster 0-60 6.6 1/4 mile 15.56

So much for torque.

The verdict.....The ninja isn't such a sheep after all. The Harley is even worse than I thought. Really embarrassing. Who would ride a cruiser? Why not just get a scooter?

Ninja 250 will pound a 250cc cruiser... You have to remember what the bikes are designed for- Ninja 250 is built for fun (high rpm windups and the short gearing to match), while the cruiser market is generally built more towards the comfortable and predictable side(average gearing, more mid-range torque for smooth power delivery). On average the cruisers will always weigh more due to design, and lack any wind protection(unless you opt for a full windshield, which on a 250 would be the equivalant of opening up a parachute on the highway). Comes down to what you really want- Do you want the comfortable riding position & smooth engine nature of the cruiser, or the the high strung windmill of the Ninja250 with the ability to lean into curves without tearing off the pegs?

some cruisers are faster than others, my cruiser is only 250cc, it's top end is only 80mph, but some harleys etc would leave a ninja 250r in the dust.
ninja 250r max speed is 105mph
some harleys will do 120mph
but the ninja has a better "off the mark" time than most harleys
