I'm buying my first sportbike or sport/cruiser but i dont know which one to buy?

Im turning 16 and im deciding on what sportbike or sport/cruiser bike i should buy. My cost limit is $6000. Im 177 pounds and 5'8 or 5'9. Do you you guys have any good bikes that could help me. Thanks alot :)

Buy a Harley sportster. They basically give them away used, and they're totally gutless so you don't have to worry about going fast. The downside is that its a total chick and gay guy bike.

Ok I would get a 600cc bike if you are responsible.

if not a ninja 250

Go to site below and watch the vid that says "What new motorcycle riders should know and buy"

i bought a hyosung GT650R in feb of 07. and been very pleased and the service is the best i ever had..www.hyosungmotorsofamerica.com
$4900 NEW

Kawasaki Ninja 250 $3495
Kawasaki Ninja 500 $4595
Suzuki GS500S $4695
2007 new leftover Yamaha FZ6 $5795
2007 Suzuki SV650 $5995

all above bikes are perfect recommended beginner bikes, easy to ride and control, all are good-reliable bikes that also have reserve power and speed to keep up with traffic at any speed limit

Seriously, why does everybody say you'll lay it down? There is NEVER a reason to lay your bike down--it stops much faster on the rubber. Also, take a class and you won't drop it.

Anyway, you're young. You're about to invest a lot of money in a bike. If you'll have a passenger often OR taking trips in excess of 45 minutes on a regular basis, buy a cruiser. If not, ten get a sport bike. Opt for the Honda or Suzuki 600 cc bike. Otherwise, after this big investment, you'll be wishing you had a little more hp in a few months. Just my 2 cents...

get a cheap 250 & learn how to ride first.........

throw it down the road & its cheaper to fix... &
yes you will throw it down the road.....

safety course first.....................

I find a cruiser to be much more comfortable than a sport bike myself. But it's all a personal choice thing, see which you find you like more.
Lots of people tell you to start with a real small engine for safety sake knowing you will want to upgrade real quickly anyways... but I disagree with that logic. Safety does still come 1st, but if you stay alert and don't try any stunts, you're better off buying a bike you'll want to keep off the bat and learn to get comfortable on the bike you'll end up spending your time on. Why learn twice?
