Best cruiser for big and tall man? 6'7'' 280lbs- Need HELP!? |
I am looking to buy my first bike and want a crusier. I am looking for a used bike to buy first and need something big enough for my leg room and am having a hard time. Budget is up to $8000..Thanks for any help! The best cruisers out there are Harleys. With your height you'll definitely need the forward controls for leg comfort. With only an $8,000 budget you'll have to look at older used Harleys. Stay away from those made in the 70s and early 80s when AMF owned Harley and quality was not very good. Later models are very comfortable, dependable, low maintenance, look good and sound great. Whatever bike you get, be sure to sit on it for a while and test ride it to be sure it will fit you. Good luck. I would be looking at the honda 6cyl cruisers they should be big enough sorry, but no matter what the bike all of us tall people look silly on them. just try to find something with forward controls to get a little more leg room and comfort. You have 2 choices, ............the biggest bike out there right now hasn't even been listed on here yet. It's the Kawasaki Vulcan 2000. It's the biggest cruiser you will find.......and the biggest engine as well. You can't get one for $8k but for about $13 you can. If you want a "big" sized cruiser but don't have to have all the engine size.........a Vulcan 900 classic would fit......and they are around $7500 out the door price without haggling on the new 08' models. Browse around the Kawasaki forum and talk to some people on there. There have been several posts with guys your size that says the 900 fits perfectly. At your height, any bike is going to "look" small on you........just a disadvantage for ya.....bet you wish you were short now...huh? I would definitely get a cruiser though.....cause that's as close as you're going to get at "looking" right on a bike. I just got the 900 classic and love it. Go try one on and see how you like it. With $8k.....you could get a new one and have pipes put on :) One excellent choice would be a Suzuki m109r. It is faster than ANY Harley--even the v-rod. You can find used ones in the $8,000 range. If you check out this link, you'll see that some VERY BIG men like to ride these awesome bikes.... vtx 1300 or 1800 one of the bigger Harley's{more $$} Suzuki 109. You can find a left over vtx {brand new just 06-07model} in your price range. Not sure about suz. Harley may be what you want but the price will be higher, less bang for the buck. unfortunately there is nothing for you in any make or model. your budget and size require a stop gap measure for the time being, as someone said... an older bike with forward controls 3 to 4 inch extended. no one shorter can make a recommendation... they don't know.... even with forward controls you will look like a monkey humping a football. later when you can, look into a Longbow... a softail m/c with harley motor, built specifically for tall guys. |
