What's a good size beginner motorcycle for a BIG guy?

I'm just starting out looking for a cruiser style motorcycle and I find myself looking at different types of Honda's and other jap cruisers. I'm about 6'2, 260 pounds and I need a bike that will have no problem getting me across town or even across the state. I see bikes around the 750cc being the more affordable ones but I'm afraid that if I buy one it will be too small or slow for me. Should I look into something around 1200cc?

i'm 6'1" 210lbs and have toured on a 450cc, it'll get you there and back ok-ish.... but certainly don't go smaller, and go bigger if your budget fits, for a beginner, do'nt go for a big tiwn harley or a 1500ccjap or anything, but in between should fit nice.
you'll have to sit on a few, i find a shadow uncomfortable for my long legs, i can't ride a shadow more than 20 minutes without highway pegs

If your not worried about going super fast then anything over a 600 would be fine for you and still be fast. 1200 is big for a bike and if your looking at sports bikes then 600 for sure is efficiant but as far as cruisers a 750 would also be fine and fast enough unless your lookin to race, it will still be faster than most cars.

That depends on your experience level if you can ride the sky is the limit I'd say your height is more a factor than your weight, find something you'll be comfortable on then worry about engine sizes. I like the yamaha star line of bikes check em out and test ride the bike you find before you buy.

1200 bandit, dont be put off with it bein a 1200 they aint that quick but quick enough for a beginer

a 750 cruiser is fine for a beginner, you will get some use out of it...

I'm 5'9" and weigh ~270
I've got a 250R that has no problem getting up to ~75
