Which bike is better for a learner?

hi, i've narrowed it down to these bikes.
-kawasaki gpx250 ninja(2007 model with the flames)
-suzuki gsx250s katana (looks like the original 80's katana)
-suzuki gsx250f across
-hyosung gt250r
-honda vt250 spada
-honda vtr250 (the one that looks like a ducati)

i weigh 140kgs and i know i need a bigger bike but they are out of my price range. i bought a nsr250 but it's not learner legal in my state so i have to get a different bike and i've only got $5000 to spend.
i don't want a cruiser style, i'd rather wait till i've got my full licence and get a real cruiser (harley).

thanks in advance

get a ninja250. they have a proven track record. you might wanna stiffen up the suspension a little though.
the rear shock can be replaced with one from a ninja500.
with the front just swap the springs put with a heavier rating one and some decent oil

tHE First one is best fr ya !!

I can't really help you per say because I'm not into the Crotch Rockets. I have trained a few people on a Honda 250 Rebel. It seemed to work just fine for them.

I dont think you can go wrong with any of them. I would give you the same advice i would give anyone making a descision on what to buy. you gotta sit on all of em and feel which is more comfortable. The bike itself could be a great bike....but if you aint comfy on it you aint gonna enjoy riding it....especially on long trips.

Well a bike that you fell comfy on and one that you think you can handle. Also you could go to all the websites to see the about the bike, or email the customer service. For example www.honda.com and look up the bike you are interested in.

If your a leaner and plan on trading up in a year or 2 then buy USED . A lot of beginners will drop a bike . You would be more upset scratching up a new bike than used . Selling that bike used after 2 years you will get almost what you paid for it .

i started on a 400 cruiser. You should start on a bike you feel comfortable sitting on, where both feet are flat on d ground and its not to heavy for you when you drop it

Why buy a sheep in wolf's clothing? Pretend sportbikes are lame. Do you want to ride in a parade or do you want something that is the most fun for it's size? Get a dual-sport or motard and have something that really takes advantage of the lightweight 250 configuration. An added benefit is these bikes will be cheaper and you can lay one down without causing a financial crisis.

a honda shadow 600cc is just fine.

I have a 2000 Suzuki Bandit600 for $3000, and I love it, Im goin to Iraq in Jun...gotta sell b4 then

if your looking at sport bikes the Ninja 250cc is by far the best for a beginner ,for a cruiser a honda Rebel 250cc or the Shadow 500cc

I'm gonna go outside your box here..... and challenge you to consider a 500 class or even up to a 750. While the Kawi 250 is a proven bike, with your size, you'll be cramped up on the smaller bike. Your price point is in the ball park for a good used 500-750 cc bike that will give you the experience and comfort you seek.
