Which starter bike? ><?

Yah I'm not sure if i'm putting this in the right spot or not but here i go. Ive been trying to figure out what bike would be a good starter bike for me is, I like the sportster style, and fairly against using the whole cruiser style of bikes, i was thinking of a Buell Blast, but I'm 20 years old, 6'2" and 170lbs, and all i hear is how much this 5'3" girl thinks its like just their height. So i was wondering if there was a better one for us taller folk lol. I was thining CBR600 or R6 since it wasnt hitting the higher CCs but then i was reading alot of what people said saying even that is iffy, so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or even experiences of trying to find a tall enough bike. Thanks in advance.

PS. Can safely say will never been using it for dirt. Main use will be to Uni. and back maybe the odd longer highway trip.

you're right in thinking that a CBR and R6 are still going to be a little too much. You're in the right CC range, but not the right performance range. Supersport 600s are still a lot of power for a beginner.

I think you meant to say that you like the sport style of bikes. Harley sportsters are cruisers. First things first though, sign up for an MSF course. Sense you are asking about a starter bike, this leads me to believe that you have little to no experience riding. An MSF course will teach you a good bit about riding safely plus your insurance will be cheaper since people that have taken the course are statistically far less likely to have accidents. Also, buy a full face helmet, jacket and gloves at LEAST. Boots too if you can afford them and some biker jeans (they are steal/kevlar reinforced, so you'll still have an *** if you go down).

Now for the fun stuff; which bike to get. A beginner sportbike should be a non-supersport 600ish cc bike. The buell blast isn't a bad bike and i know a guy that is very happy with his, but at 6' 2", nothing buell offers is going to fit you. I'm 5' 11" and my Buell firebolt is uncomfortable for me after a few hours. A few good bikes to try would be the Kawasaki Ninja650R (Great entry leval sportbike), Suzuki SV650 (i'd advise without the fairing since it's expensive to replace), Yamaha FZ6 (a little less sporty, but much more comfortable i've heard. i particular like the styling). Bikes like CBR600, R6, GSX-R600 and ZX-6 are all a little too much for you right now. The bikes i mentioned are still fast, so you won't outgrow them, but if you find yourself wanting more performance later, then you can move up to a supersport. The best thing to do is to go sit on the bikes i mentioned and see if they fit you okay. If they are all too small, ask the instructors in your MSF course (that you WILL take) to reccommend a few bikes to you. Just keep sitting on bikes till you find one that fits you and is in the performance range with a entry leval sportbike. Good luck and if you have any specific questions, feel free to contact me.

p.s. a used 650R is probably one of the cheapest (price wise) sportbikes you can get. Whatever you get, buy it used and make sure it's past the break in period. I bought my bike 5 months used for 3/5 the price and it was JUST past the break in period. Also, you don't need to spend a lot on gear. I spent 300 for my helmet, jacket and gloves and have full confidence in all of it.

Guy is obviously a squid, probably be dead within a month. Yeah go get your cbr600 you newbie. lol hahaha too funny Report It

It has a tall seat height. It looks cool. It's easy to learn to ride. Easy to work on. Good gas mileage and cheap on insurance. Affordable to buy and maintain. It's an air cooled single cylinder with a simple designed bulletproof engine. You have the choice of going off road if you decide to. Just put street tire or street oriented tires on and it makes a good roadbike. It's lightweight and easy to maneuver in traffic.
You can probably get a new 07 for less than three grand if you haggle the dealer some. They are trying to dump the 07's and bring in more 08's.

Also check out the Suzuki GS500F. They have a sporty look. You can find one used for cheap.

Look if you want a starter bike with a cheap price go for the kawasaki 250 ninja or the Honda 125 cbr, nice bike and about 4000 dollars. The bike is lightweight and can handle highway speeds no problem and good on gas. Be Safe.

the honda is more for the street and the r-6 is for the track.
