Differences between crotch rocket and cruiser?

ok i know how to ride cruiser bikes ive done it for a long time but i recently bought a cbr i took it for a spin and it is completly different for me i dont know what to do how do i become more comfortable with the stance leaning etc

well the real difference between to two is that the crotch rocket has more mid and high end torque, meaning it has more power at higher rpms than the cruiser

obviously you know that the sport bike also has a more aggressive riding "stance".

the only way to get comfortable on a crotch rocket, from how i learned, is to push the limits you can go(not the bike), ride it to the point where you are somewhat afraid that you are going too fast, obviously dont push yourself to far the first time.

this will get you more confident at riding at normal speeds, the worst thing you can be on a motorcycle is too cocky, and too scared. if you can master riding at 90 plus miles an hour than you will be able to manuever and ride at 70 with ease...

it may sound a little stupid but thats the way i was taught from one of my friends who rides professionally. trust me it works, a confident rider (not cocky) is a skilled succesful rider

About 3 inches.

Find a curvy road with no traffic. Ride up and back and keep increasing your speed each time. If you live in the city a big parking lot will do. Set yourself up a course that weaves in and out of the parking bumps for example. Just keep practicing. That is what the stunt riders do. They keep practicing until they know the bike and everything it can and cannot do.

Just spend some time in the saddle to get used to the different riding position and the different feel of the new bike. The CBR's handling and feel will be like 2nd nature in no time.

Ah, two completely different schools of thought. Most say you are a fan of either one or the other. Never both.

But you just have to give it time to adjust. Like driving a pickup truck all your life and trading it in on a Civic.

You may never get used to it and you'll want to go back to cruising or you may just learn to love it. Give it time.

Seems like the younger people like crotch rockets, but eventually out grow them and get cruisers.

Crotch rockets are better on performance and handling.

Cruisers are more comfortable, especially on a longer ride.

It's all a matter of taste.

To get better with your new ride, practice practice, practice... And don't over drive your abilities.

After 35 years of riding bikes I bought my first sport bike less than a year ago. I guess the aggressive riding position was a little weird at first, but very quickly I started feeling like the bike was an extension of my body. Just ride the thing and get some hours in the saddle.

I still like my other bikes but I *ride* them, I don't 'ride my sport bike I'm 'part of' the motorcycle to a pretty amazing degree. More than the power this is what sport bikes are really about.

If you don't start feeling that way, maybe a sport bike just isn't for you, maybe you are a person who needs a bike to just ride.

about 100 mph !

I ride an R6 I have never road a cruiser besides for endorsement test. My understanding is that you sacrifice comfort for handling/speed. You find a road with a couple of nice twisties practice your leaning... Either scare the piss out of you or you will love it to the point you want to just go all day. You will be surprised how the bike sticks to the road like glue. Be Safe but more importantly have fun!

It takes a while to get used to how far forward you lean. You almost have to relearn your center of balance. All I can suggest is to take long ride to get used to it. Leaning into the curves is also very different, but once you get the hang of it, you will have a blast! I would suggest starting in a parking lot and play around with the turns so you can get used to it. The more comfortable you get, the faster you can go and the further youo can lean. Good Luck
