First 125cc bike: Cruiser, Scooter or Moped? |
Hi, I'm just about to buy my first bike- I'm only 18 so its gotta be under 125cc. Some of the 125cc cruisers look awesome, but do they really go like they should? I can't helpbut think that with all that weight, such a small engine wouldn't cope too well. Do they go as fast as a smaller bike with the same engine (i.e. a scooter)? And how about the acceleration, is that gonna be rubbish on a big bike given the small engine? Thanks. I have had a 125cc bike, back then when I was just beginning to ride. It went well, not excellent, but sufficient for carrying me around cheaply and I wasnt too worried about dropping it. It was so easy to handle that I actually never dropped it. firstly have you passed you full bike test?..if not dont bother with an exspensive 125.buy a cheepy, pass your test doing a direct accsess corse and buy a big bike..unless yove passed your full car test youll have to pass your bike test in 2 years or your bike licence will be withdrawn for 12 months...no learner drivers are allowd on the motorway like who says Id defo recomend the virago 125 ive got one and its never let me down , it easy to steer, looks a lot bigger than it is engine wise. and is very comfy for long journeys, Can you go on the motorway? Well, it is best to say that you should check with your local DMV to see if a 125cc Scooter can go on the motorway. As the previous stated, most states require that you have a Motorcycle License for anything over a 49cc or 50cc Scooter. If you already have a Drivers License, then the Motorcycle License is a breeze. Some states require that you take a Safety Course, and others will require that you take a written examine for the Learners Permit. The Permit may be good for one or two years, then you can take the road examine. If you really like riding, then why not go all the way. Yes, it is a little time consuming, but all good things are, and are well worth it. |
