Bikes on Base?

well i'm going to basic training soon and I just bought an expensive bicycle... man I love this bike it is a hybrid bike that looks like a beach cruiser. it is yellow with blue fenders. Will I be able to have the bike with me on base to get from place to place... or should I sell the bike before I leave. It was a 400 dollar bike and I freakin love it!

You will not be alowwed to have it at Basic training or your follow on training, but you can take it to your duty station.
Keep it for when you get to your unit.

you can't use it in boot camp but, after you complete all your training you can use it. You have to wear a helmet though. Base regulations.

keep it, it'll defintly come in handy when u get to a unit. Depending on which base your assigned to some of them are really big and really spread out. It can be a long way to the PX, cominssary, uniform/clothing outlet ect. Walking is slow and gets really old after a while. A bike is a good way of learning the area too. If your not planning on having a car i would defintly keep it, especially if you love it that much. Once you get to a base with it guard it with your life, just because someone is a battle buddy doesn't mean they don't like ur stuff or the money it cost. Dont leave it on the bike racks, take it too ur room or at least double chain it and take the front tire, make it more trouble than it's worth.

In basic, your mode of transportation will be your feet as you shuffle along from class to class. Once you get to your permanent duty station, you can take the bike with you.

You will be marching in formation while in boot camp and your follow on school so no bikes. You will be able to have a bike when you get to your first real command and then you will have to wear a helmet, a reflective vest whenever riding it on base.
