I'm afraid of growing up?

im currently a sophomore in highschool
im terrified of growing up.
i love being in high school, i wanna stay in high school for as long as i can. its so much fun and it has got to be the bestest thing that has ever happened in my life. when i go to my friend's house and chill, we go around on beach cruiser bikes and stuff, i pass by these old people and they're just sitting there reading a newspaper and drinking a cup of coffee by themselves. it looks really boring. it makes me sad cause i'm already 15 years into my life and another 15 years and i'm already 30 years old. i'm just too scared of growing up and i never want to leave high school. next thing you know i'll be like 40 years old with 20 year old kids and i'm about to retire...
im just tooo scared to grow up

You're projecting your own feelings onto others. Lots of us "olders" are quite content to be in the quieter time of our life and out of the youthful years you are now experiencing.

Belive me we were once young and fast and full of life and piss and vinegar and we did all manner of hanging out and being with friends and being just like you. We've done all that and we don't miss it at all. What you don't know is that life gets better, richer, you have more money, more security, and we can live our lives any way we want to so don't feel sorry for the aging. It's really quite cool.

High school is nothing like real life and the kick you'll get out of being your own person, governing your own life, having your own apt., your own friends and parties and job and car and girlfrieds. The older you get, the more prepared you become as you walk through it, for the next stage. The only reason you're apprehensive is because you are looking at the whole of life with 15 year old eyes and with only 15 years of experience.
Life is actually just beginning for you, there's nothing to be afraid of.

life is SOOOO much better after high school... it may seem nice now but just wait

I totally understand... I feel the same way and was really scared last year when i was a freshman. But, there's nothing i can do to stop it and so i just try to live my life the way i want it.

wait, whats the question?

well, just live life to the fullest, so when u do grow up, at least u took advantage of ur youth. i'm fifteen too. :D just take advantage of ur age and don't be afraid of the future. it's not about the past, or the future, take advantage of right now, it's a gift. that is why they called it the PRESENT

Well, it's pretty cool to have your own place. You get to chill out there, have beer, go to lectures in school. And then some chick would move it, and you'd get laid several times a week. So there are plenty of ups to growing up. Then you can get a job and buy a Mustang.

How do you think everybody else feels? I feel the same way.

Well, I'm currently in 12th grade! and honestly it is sooooo much fun. you shouldn't be afraid, to be able to get all this freedom is great. Your able to go out and party and just have a great time. And yes were all going to graduate and go to college, but look at it as an oppurtunity to start over to some extent. Just ride the wave out, trust me you'll get sick of high school soon.

It is a very common fear, but usually life just gets better cause you have more freedom. AND youll look stupid if u are 30 years old and still in high school.

just keep getting held back and u can stay in high school for as long as u want!

Here it is.
I am 38, a mother of two kids...not twenty!! They are five and three.
Sure life is great when you are young but who says that life has to be crappy when you get older?? Life is what you make it.
I have travelled all over the world have met some amazing people done ALOT of crazy things, but that doesn't have to stop just because your a bit older. You really never change, sure you get a smarter, you get a few wrinkles, you deal with hardships but that is what makes you interesting that is what LIFE is about...living.
Stop being scared, take control, do what you want in life. Noone said you have to be married at twenty with kids.
Do what you love and life will be good!!

Please save your letter and read it in 15 years!

Good luck and have a great life.

I can understand where you're coming from. I'll be 23 soon and it seems like the time just flies by after I finished HS but I'm really happy with my life. Life is what you make of it. Yea so adults are boring and it looks like they're lives suck. But those same people may love what they are doing and may be much happier then they appear! Enjoy being in HS but don't be afraid of the future! Embrace what you can become and do you best! Take care.

yea me too!! Oh wait! never mind I'm an old dude. But I seen some $#!t, quit whining! you bought in for the E ticket, ride this life! you'll be fine!!
