Anyone knows what kinds of engines best fit a chopper bike?

I'd like to assemble my own chopper bike but I don't exactly know what engine I need. Please give specs if possible.

you need the biggest V-Twin they make, I think it's around 1650cc's if I remember correctly, that's the right way to do it, you could always get a honda engine too, but I think for both simplicity of building and looks you'll want something air cooled. (honda has air cooled engines too)

It really depends on what you want the chopper to do / sound like.

If you want a Harley chopper start with a Harley frame and engine, if you want a Triumph chopper start with a Triumph frame and engine, etc.
If you want a full custom chopper, select your frame style and then choose your engine, but choose an engine that fits the lines and contour you are looking for.
Bottom line, choose the style that fits your personality.

First buy a book on chopper assembly their are many on the market today. You think it might be an easy task but in no way is it easy and you can not do it alone with your limited motorcycle capabilities.

choose any engine, then design your frame around the engine.

I have a 2006 Bigdog chopper with the SS engine, a 117 C.I. and fits perfectly in the frame. S&S makes all sizes of engines and Bigdog and American Iron Horse all use S&S engines. Click on my avatar and then my 360 to see pictures of my bike.

It's got to be a V-twin for a chopper. Nothing else will look right.
