Did you have a chopper bike? What were they like to ride? |
I always wanted one, but never did. I still would if my family would let me be seen on one. I never even sat on one, but they looked great to ride. Where did they all go? Have you still got yours? I have one. An original from the seventies and I love it. Everyone comes and talks to you when I am on it. They were, and still are an almost lethal bike. Gearstick ready to do real damage to you if you braked too hard or hit anything, and you could pop a serious wheelie at any time by simply pushing your butt back on the seat and pulling the handlebars up even a tiny amount. My mates and I once had four kids on a chopper as you could give great 'backies' with one. There was also a small 'carrier' shelf behind the seat - someone was sitting on that and then there was someone in between the handlebars. Add the rider and you have four kids...we hit a car whizzing down the street and made a right mess of ourselves. Eeee...them were the days! The one I have is jet black with a holographic sticker on the side and I have been offered a lot for it. Not a prayer! i have a huffy. Death traps. And the gear lever ran a real risk of castrating the hard-braking male rider... sportbikes are better Nah, I had a Commando, it was OK but I always wanted a Chopper in Ultra Violet or Black. They go for stoooopid money now on Ebay. i still have a big pink chopper, the girls have always loved it!!! I had one.They we're the business. |
