My Hubby Suggests buying Bikes..but can you get a REALLY comfy saddle? |
i havent been on a bike in years, last time i made it round the block and had to come off, the saddle was soo hard and uncomfortable. I long for the days when i was young and had one of those chopper bikes. Im quite happy with an old fashioned type of bike with a basket in front!!! but can i buy a separate saddle which is really cushioned? Yes you can. I went to halfords and bought a really well padded extra wide one - It has gel padding and it was about 拢30. It is really comfy, I can ride (on the bike!) for a long time and still walk the next day! You can buy gel tops that fit over your current seat. Walmart sells them in their bike department. However, if you haven't been on a bike in years, I would imagine you've got plenty of natural cushioning. ;O Addendum: What can I say? I gotta do what I gotta do. To tincre (below): So she doesn't need a seat? Not a bad idea. That would lighten up the bike a little. To chas_lee (below): That's DR. Evil, not Mr. Evil. I didn't spend 23 frikkin' years in graduate school for nothin'!! To emilyride (below): Nobody wants to have mold on their behind! You should not suggest this! Yes, but you need to buy a ladies saddle. Most bikes come with a mans saddle, which don't fit a woman due to the larger pelvic opening. yes , I took my wifes bike down last week and they installed a real nice wide'''' Gel seat "" it is much bigger than those A S S busting seats that the majority of bikes come with , and it has a good padded surface so her butt doesnt feel sore or uncomfortable while she rides . I took the bike to the local shop and told them what was the problem and we looked at the seats and they put it on for me ...... I think it cost 12 bucks installedc for a nice padded gel seat ........ she acctually rides the bike now instead of it collecting dust .......I would keep the old fashioned bike and yes buy a new saddle for it .......just take it in and tell the guy at the shop ........ it is no seceret that those older seats hurt your butt and are very inadequate for a grown woman ........good luck I hope you go enjoy a nice ride with your family ........ we ride together now and again , it is a fun and healthy non-expensive way to spend a couple hours ........... Hi Julie yes you can get a comfy seat for us women,,, and to mr EVIL that was not nice to say also your name suits you you can purchase a women's style saddle at a good bike shop..the gel saddles a very comfy... you should also remember ..that while riding you aren't supposed to be sitting all the time...if you are, your not getting the work out you need. Big but big saddles do you know a saddler ? he`s the guy who makes saddles for gee gee`s ,give him a visit |
