New frame, new title?

I have a running and registered Honda CB750 and a hardtail chopper frame that I'd like to build. Can I transfer everything off the stock bike to the Chopper and just ride it with the original title? What if I hack off the neck with the VIN code and weld it onto the chopper frame? Any ideas?

If you can use the headset from your stock frame that is your best bet.
If you re register the bike with a new frame ( and so a new vin #) the bike will fall into the * special construction* classification. This leads to higher insurance costs and you may have to comply with todays EPA standards.
1. Why ruin a good CB750.
2. If you are contemplating taking the neck off the existing frame and welding on to the other you do not know what you are doing, so don't.
3. Go and see a local frame builder/custom bike builder as they will be able to answer your question based on the local laws.
4. They can also either give you advice on or talk you out of doing the conversion.
go to the scale house [where they weigh otr trucks, on the freeway] and
ask them...D.O.T.......if you have all your paper work in order, old an new,
probably Blue-tag it, [ special construction] but it will be reg. as a 2007-08. And just hacking off the neck, sounds like you have an idea,
but really have no business doing it
yourself...........
