When riding BMX, is a lighter bike better? If so, what is a good weight for a BMX bike? |
Thanks alot! A strong bike is a better investment than a purely light weight bike. Think about the type of riding you are going to be doing, and make your decision based on that. If you are going to do "flatland" and just do tricks on the ground or peg grinds, then you would want a "freestyle" bike with 2 brakes and a rotor that allows the handlebar to spin freely. They are heavier but much stronger than traditional "bmx" bikes. True "bmx" bikes are very light weight, quite expensive, and loaded with great components, but are best suited to racing and not much else. Then there are the more entry level bikes in both categories that might fit your needs. Depending on how much you are willing to spend will determine how light weight your bike is going to be. Hope that helps! The lighter the better. Yes lighter is better when it comes to Bmx bicycles, However the dirt-ready Bmx bicycle goes up in price as the total weight goes down. The 7005 Series alloy isnt too bad. Frame weights your looking for are about 3.5 pounds to 5 pounds. |
