How do you put bar ends on a bmx bike, and has any ones freecoaster ever "caught" so that ur pedals ...... |
pedals start to spin backwards What kind of bar ends do you have? If they are bar caps, rather than ends, then the thing just slots over the end of your bar and you tighten up a grub screw until the cap does not move. It works by pinching the outside of your bars. If you have bar plugs, which look like mushrooms, then you unscrew the allen screw that runs down the middle of the two pieces so that the two are still both on the screw, bu there is a gap between them. The plug works by expanding when you tighten the screw, so it squeezes the inside of your bars (unlike caps). So you have unscrewed your bar plug, then you need to insert it into the bar so that the plug is all the way in. If the plug is a bit sticky and won't go in the bar, it might be because you have a moulding line where the bar was made. You can just tap the bar end in with a rubber mallet or cover it with a piece of wood and tap the wood with a hammer. The plug is probably aluminium, so it will just get crushed where the burr is and slide in. Then you just tighten the screw until it will not tighten any more. The plug is now in. Repeat on the other side. It is called ghost pedalling when your pedals do that. It is usually because your chain is too tight. Just undo your rear wheel and move it slightly closer to the sprocket and retighten it. There should be a bit of slack in the chain, but not a massive amount. That should sotp it from happening.. Hope that helps. http://www.westernveil.com (add a pic).
