How many tooth chainwheel should i be running? Its a bmx bike. I use it for transportation and ride street bmx In your case (transport and street riding) I would throw on the largest one I can fit on the cranks. (probably a 48) The cheaper option would be to put a small sprocket on the wheel. Gearing up will give you a higher top/cruising speed. The down side is that it will be harder to climb hills and slower to accelerate. Hey the boy that I like rides a BMX and also his friend. But I would tell you about the chainwheel you should be running but I really don't know anything about that. Sorry! The chainwheel should be in direct proportion to your freewheel'cassette cog. I ride a 25tooth front with a 9 tooth driver in the rear. This is ideal for street since it reduces weight, stays clear on grinds, and is stronger. If you want to run something larger in the front just add 2 or 3 teeth for every one in the rear. 28/10, 30/11 ,36/13. |
