Is it better to have a chromo fork on a freestyle bmx bike than a hi-ten fork ?? Um, it really doesn't matter. Let me explain. Both hi-ten (high tensile) and chromo (Chrome Molybdneum) are steel, just different alloys. What sets them apart is that CrMo can be made thinner and maintain strength, so a good, high priced CrMo fork will be lighter but just as strong as Hi Ten. If both forks are made to the same tubing standards then both would weigh exactly the same... just the CrMo would be stronger. Source(s): 27 years in the industry Chromoly is always better. |
