Can a larger fellow about 280 ride a bmx style bike? |
and is it appropriate to jack the seat up for comfort Yes Just expect to replace wheels and other parts more often, as for jacking the seat up they are meant to be low for maneuverability, you may be more comfortable on a Hardtail mountain bike with 26" wheels, alot of companys have been making some bomb proof bikes and it depends on how you plan to ride it. Source(s): cycling for 10 + yrs yea but if you get a bmx bike just make sure that is made for bigger people. i have a bike with extra support bars and i have super good tires so just make sure that it is made for bigger people and thats that. the seat thing is just not to high because if your screwing around and land hard...yea....thats gonna hurt a few companys are making 24 inch jumpers now. you might check one of those out. dk makes a 24 jumper. it sort of depends on how tall you are. my riding buddie a few years back was huge and he was quite skilled in the park and at trails. be concerned with rimms and hubs dont sacrifice strength for wieght. find a hub that has at min 4 sealed berrings in them. they weigh a ton but they are bomb proof. Yes you can ride a bmx. I agree that you will need to take strength into consideration when you buy your bike so opt for more reliable brands like FBM, S&M, and Terrible One. As for your seat question, it really comes down to your preference and style. If you like it higher for comfort or tricks then by all means do it. Hope this helps. |
