What is the difference(regarding the bikes)between the BMX freestyle, street and jump? And what BMX stands for? |
I wanna buy a BMX bike to start Bmx-ing with it and i'm not sure what to luke for.I wanna go freestyle/street...kinda or a blend of all styles...my personal styles:DAnd can u post a link to a trick explainin' website?? BMX bikes are for racing. They are very light and strong and are geared for speed. Freestyle and street bikes are generally pretty heavily built and include features such as a cable detangler to let you spin the handlebars and pegs. They are very well balanced. These bikes are geared so that complex tricks can be done at slow speed. They should NEVER be taken off road. Jump bikes are a bit of a mix of BMX and freestyle bikes. They are intended for playing in the mud and jumping. They are heavy and tend to be equipped like a freestyle but are geared like a BMX. Source(s): 26 years in the industry All the bikes are the same,my advice for you: go to the local skatepark and guys out there will show you the basic triks and then you will see what style is best for you. here is a link for some fundamentals: http://www.extremebros.com/bmx/tlist_1.h... I'm skateboarder BMX stands for Bicycle Moto (X)Cross . Anyway , Freestyle and street bikes are the same thing except for Jump bikes , which have minor differences. Freestyle/Street/Flatland have pegs on them for grinding or doing tricks that require the use of them . It also has a gyro/rotor thingy that allows you to twist your bike >360 degrees for tricks. For jump bikes , the bike geometry is different but it can be run with the gyro/rotor and pegs if you want to and is used mainly for jumps . www.gt.com www.haro.com www.wethepeople.de BMX = Bicycle Moto Cross (X). Freestyle = This isn't any particluar sub-category of BMX, freestyle is whatever you want it to be. Street = Optional stunt peg position and quantities, fore and aft brakes - therefore a gyro also, slick tyres, some street/vert bikes may have a more compact geometry. Dirt jump = No pegs, no front brake, no gyro, nobbly tyres for grip, perhaps a more layed back geometry to roll over bumps better. To be honest, if you don't know the difference then you should stop watching EX tv and start riding just about any bike until youv'e crashed a few times and then decide whether or not you still wanna take up BMX - it might save you alot of money! |
